Dr. Suzanne Robidoux (苏璇) has been living in China and Taiwan for the last 24 years (since 2000) studying with various masters focused on classical and clinical practices. She started by spending three years in the south of Taiwan to master mandarin while learning with clinical masters. In 2004, she moved to Nanjing and completed her Ph.D. in acupuncture at the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in 2007. During her doctorates, she focused her studies and research on treating neurological disorders and psychological disorders as well as Major Depression Disorder at the Brain Hospital of Nanjing. One of these masters was Dr. Lu Qian at the Neurological Hospital (direct lineage of doctor Jiao Shu Fa). During her apprenticeship with Dr. Lu, Suzanne learned the most effective ways to treat severe cases of post-stroke coma, paralysis, hemiplegia, multiple sclerosis, Meniere’s diseases and other life threatening neurological diseases. Over 90% of the patients would receive cranial acupuncture with body acupuncture.
Suzanne came to Beijing in 2007 and worked with several masters all over China and helping them publish their life’s work and make their knowledge available in English to the West. She has translated and edited over 20 professional Chinese medical textbooks related to acupuncture and Chinese medicine, during which she had the chance to work with Dr. Shi Xuemin, specialist in neurological disorders and famous for getting the best results with his needling technique. In the West, he is known to be the treating doctor from Tianjin in the documentary “9000 Needles”. During this time she also offered support at the Suicide Prevention Center in Beijing and contributed to the benefit of the elder community providing acupuncture treatments to severe cases of depression with suicidal tendencies.
In 2008, Suzanne met Master Sun Shifu, master of Bagua zhang (八卦掌) and Xingyi quan (形意拳). She learned and practiced with him for 5 years and soon became part of the family and became his discipline so she holds the 4th generation of the Cheng Style of Bagua Zhang of this lineage. In 2011, she won gold and silver metals for open hand forms and long weapon forms in the international martial art competition held in Beijing and in 2012 published the comprehensive Bagua Zhang book and DVD with PMPH.
Between 2010 and 2019, Dr. Robidoux taught Classical acupuncture and moxa as well as Classical herbal programs all over the world. Her goal is to revive classical system she has learned in her two decades of following masters in China. She has taught long and short term programs in International Medical Conferences in Montreal, Vancouver, New York, Oakland and San Diego California, Germany, France, Denmark, Finland, The Netherlands, as well as Brisbane and Sydney Australia. She is a post doctorates tutor in the clinical doctoral program in Oakland California (ACCHS).
Meanwhile, Dr. Robidoux started her journey into Classical herbal Jing Fang medicine in 2012 and sat side by side Dr. Feng Shilun in clinic for months at a time for a total of 5 years as well as organized and translated courses broadcasted all over the world (now is DVD format) until she started doing her own courses up to today. She also organized courses abroad with Dr. Feng to the US, Canada, France, Germany and UK which greatly increased his international fame. In 2018, Dr. Robidoux published the Six Syndrome Guide to Classical Formulas compiling Dr. Hu Xishu's and Dr. Feng shilun's life work as well as her own clinical experience in a massive volume.
Suzanne is now in Nanjing and enjoying the classical texts. She has founded and manages an animal rescue and adoption center. On her free time, Suzanne still continues to teach and research classical Chinese medicine and practice the art of Bagua Zhang and the Zhou yi (周易) more commonly known as the I Ching.
