In this course, we will discuss selected formula patterns from the Wen Bing Tiao Bian through the eyes of the Jing Fang six syndromes as explained by master clinican Dr. Hu Xi shu. Dr. Hu was not only proficient in teaching and applying the Shang Han Za Bing Lun formulas in real life but his depth and experience enabled him to incorporate knowledge from other systems and schools of thought.

This course will offer a unique perspective into the “Warm Diseases” school with the respective formulas listed in the “Wen Bing Tiao Bian” (Systematic Differentiation of Warm Diseases) analyzed through the Six Syndromes system taught and emphasized in the Shang Han Za Bing Lun.
 

Learning the meaning of the works of Wu Ju tong and Zhang zhong jing brings us a better grasp of the classical formulas and their application in clinic. By understanding the original clauses of classical works as well as the commentaries and explanation of Dr. Hu Xi shu, we can reach a deeper understanding of the pathomechanism of the six syndromes along with the various nuances of promoting health with classical formulas.
 
Course Objectives:

– Review selected clauses from the Wen Bing Tiao Bian with commentary from Professor Hu Xi shu, their corresponding formula patterns through the Six Syndrome perspective.

 
– Learn how to differentiate the various heat pathogens through the Jing Fang perspective
 

Course Design:

Each day will be 4 hours broadcasted live for a total of 12 hours, with interaction through chatrooms and microphones. There will be a handout for every weekend with a worksheet of 10 questions at the end of the weekend to obtain your credits. Participants will have one week to complete the worksheet and send it by email. We will also take online registrations. If a participant is unable to attend one of the weekends, an audio recording will be sent, 1 weekend per participant. However, the recordings of the weekends will not be available otherwise.

Day 2: Discussing syndromes affecting the middle Jiao and their commonly seen clinical presentations and correlating formula patterns.

 
Day 3: Discussing syndromes affecting the lower Jiao and their commonly seen clinical presentations and correlating formula patterns.
