In this course, we will discuss the meaning of Zhang Zhong jing’s classical text of the Shang Han Lun according to professor Hu Xi shu. We will cover the meaning of all 398 clauses with translation in English and the meaning of the clauses according to the Six Syndrome System in the goal of deepening the clinical application of classical medicine.
Learning the meaning of the works of Zhang Zhong jing brings us a better grasp of the classical formulas and their application in clinic. By understanding the original clauses of Zhang Zhong jing we also have an understanding of the pathomechanism of the six syndromes along with the various nuances of promoting health with classical formulas.
Course Objectives:
– Understand the deeper meaning of all the clauses of the Shang Han Lun according to Professor Hu Xi Shu.
– Develop a deeper understanding of the Six Syndrome System and its pathomechanisms
– Learn the 44 treatment guidelines listed within the 398 clauses of the Shang Han Lun
– Learn the diagnostic tools necessary to identify the various nuances of the Six Syndrome System
– Deepen our understanding over 220 classical formulas and their related original clauses
Course Design:
Each day will be 4 hours broadcasted live, with interaction through chatrooms and microphones. There will be a handout for every weekend with a worksheet of 10 questions at the end of the weekend to obtain your credits. Participants will have one week to complete the worksheet and send it by email. We will also take online registrations. If a participant is unable to attend one of the weekends, an audio recording will be sent, 1 weekend per participant. However, the recordings of the weekends will not be available otherwise.

Discussing clauses 1 to 26 as well as the meaning of Zhong Feng, Shang han, Wen bing and Feng wen syndromes within the 6 syndrome system. We will also be discussing the formula patterns of Gui Zhi Qu Shao Yao Tang, Gui Zhi Qu Shao Yao Jia Fu Zi Tang, Gui Zhi Tang, Gui Zhi Er Ma Huang Yi Tang.
Day 2
Discussing clauses 27 to 50 as well as the meaning of Gui Zhi Er Yue Bi Yi Tang, Gui Zhi Tang Qu Gui Jia Fu Ling Bai Zhu Tang, Ge Gen Tang, Da Qing Long Tang, Gui Zhi Jia Hou Po Xing Zi Tang, Gui Zhi Tang and Ma Huang Tang formula patterns.
Day 3
Discussing clauses 51 to 75 as well as the meaning of Gan Jiang Fu Zi Tang, Xin Jia Tang, Ma Xing Shi Gan Tang, Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang, Shao Yao Gan Cao Fu Zi Tang, Fu Ling Si Ni Tang formula patterns.

Discussing clauses 211 to 235 as well as the meaning of Bai Hu Tang, Zhi Zi Chi Tang, Zhu Ling Tang, Si Ni Tang, Xiao Chai Hu Tang, Ma Huang Tang, Gui Zhi Tang formula patterns.

Discussing clauses 291 to 315 as well as the meaning of Ma Huang Fu Zi Xi Xin Tang, Ma Huang Fu Zi Gan Cao Tang, Huang Lian E Jiao Tang, Fu Zi Tang, Tao Hua Tang, Wu Zhu Yu Tang formula patterns.

Day 13
Discussing clauses 316 to 340 as well as the meaning of Tong Mai Si Ni Tang, Si Ni San, Zhu Ling Tang and moxa treatments, Huang Qin Tang, Wu Mei Wan formula patterns, and the pathomechanism of the Jue yin syndrome.
Day 14
Discussing clauses 341 to 375 as well as the meaning of Bai Hu Tang, Dang Gui Si Ni Tang, with the modifications of adding Wu Zhu Yu and Sheng Jiang, Gua Di San, Fu Ling Gan Cao Tang, Ma Huang Sheng Ma Tang, Gan Jiang Huang Lian Huang Qin Ren Shen Tang formula patterns.
Day 15
Discussing clauses 376 to 398 as well as the meaning of Wu Zhu Yu Tang, Xiao Chai Hu Tang, Si Ni Jia Ren Shen Tang, Li Zhong Wan, Tong Mai Si Ni Jia Zhu Dan Zhi Tang, Zhu Ye Shi Gao Tang formula patterns.
There will be a 10% discount for participants who finished the Jing Fang 2 year program. The 10% discount will be reimbursed after registration and completion of payment.
