This comprehensive foundation and clinical program offers an in-depth exploration of the Jing Fang classical herbal system within the Hu Xi shu lineage, led by Dr. Suzanne Robidoux. Delivered over eight intensive weekends—comprising seven 3-day sessions and one opening 4-day session—the course provides a total of 100 contact hours (12 hours per weekend).

 

Participants will gain practical proficiency in the diagnostic framework and clinical application of the Six Syndromes. The curriculum includes detailed study of over 120 classical formulas from Zhang Zhong Jing, alongside the Shen Nong ben cao jing descriptions and applications of more than 200 individual herbs. Instruction focuses on the clinical presentation, Six Syndrome categorization, and appropriate application of these classical formulas.

 

A core component of the training involves systematic analysis of Dr. Hu Xi Shu’s clinical cases and treatment protocols. Ample time is reserved for live case discussions, including differential diagnosis, formula pattern matching, and herbal dosage modifications tailored to individual patient presentations. On the seventh weekend, the program addresses Zhang Zhong Jing’s classical pulse diagnostic system, completing the foundational framework. The eighth weekend covers practical administration methods, including tinctures, pills, powders, medicinal baths, and plasters.

 

By the end of the program, participants will have developed sufficient experience and comprehension to begin applying the Jing Fang system directly in their own clinical practice.

 

Pathway to Advanced Study

 

Completion of this foundation program grants eligibility for advanced training, offered in two distinct tracks: clinical discussion seminars and topic-based advanced case analysis.

 

Target Audience

 

This course provides a thorough understanding of the Six Syndromes and their corresponding formula patterns within the Jing Fang tradition (the classical herbal system of Zhang Zhong Jing). It is suitable for all practitioners, regardless of prior background in Chinese herbology.

September 25th to 28th, 2026 Jing Fang 1: Jing fang Diagnostics and external Tai yang syndromes.

 

October 9th to 11th, 2026 Jing Fang 2: The external Shao yin syndromes.

 

October 30th to November 1st, 2026 Jing Fang 3: The internal Yang ming syndromes.

 

November 13th to 15th, 2026 Jing Fang 4: The internal Tai yin syndromes.

 

December 4th to 6th, 2026 Jing Fang 5: The half external half internal Shao yang syndromes.

 

January 22nd to 24th, 2027 Jing Fang 6: The half external half internal Jue yin syndromes.

 

February 19th to 21st, 2027 Jing Fang 7: Zhang Zhong jing’s Pulse presentations fitting syndrome combinations and formula patterns, externally used formulas, Jing fang tincture making and administration of raw and granule combinations.

 

March 19th to 21st, 2027 Jing Fang 8: Advanced Jing fang treatment for chronic pain and neurological disorders.
