Zhang zhong jing’s Six syndrome system already recorded the use of acupuncture and moxibustion as a combination of the herbal treatment. Hence, it is acceptable to understand that applying acupuncture and moxibustion according to the six syndromes pathomecanism will enhance the healing effect of the herbs and accelerate healing.

 
As Sun si miao as mentioned: “If acupuncture does not heal the patient, apply moxibustion, if moxibustion does not heal the patient, apply herbal medicine, if herbal medicine does not heal the patient, apply food therapy.”

 
Classically, Chinese medicine pratitioners used all of these tools to support patients.

In this course, we will combine the pathomecanism understanding from Zhang zhong jing to apply to the various syndrome presentations by combining it with the formula patterns. The choice of acupuncture points and needling will be based on various acupuncture classics such as The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (Zhen Jiu Da Cheng, 针灸大成), the The Jade Dragon Verse of Using Acupuncture (Zhen Jiu Yu Long Ge, 针灸玉龙歌), Supplement to Important Formulas Worth a Thousand Gold Pieces, (Qian Jin Yi Fang, 千金翼方), The Systematic Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (Zhen Jiu Jia Yi Jing, 针灸甲乙经) and more.

Jing fang practitioners following the Hu xi shu lineage will have an advantage but all acupuncturists and herbalists are welcome.
